"Mariah", Comfort Golden, (Golden Retriever & Cocker Spaniel Cross), out of Ivy & Duke. Chocolate Female. She believes she is a cat, and is a good mouser!
Comfort Golden
A Comfort Golden is bred from a Golden Retriever and a Spaniel. They look a lot like a Golden Retriever, but are much smaller, maturing mostly from 16 to 17 inches tall. Comforts are super easy to train, often just doing everything, without any real training. They love people, and are super family dogs! They never tend to "run off", but prefer to stay close to their family or owner. Playful, fun dogs! Extra gentle, and great with kids and other animals. Their medium size works well as a housedog, but is still big enough to handle children. Their ears are longer then a Goldens, but not as long as a Cocker. Pretty faces, with a coat that can be trimmed, or left natural. They have hair between their toes that makes them appear to be wearing slippers. Large, but not too large, soft eyes!
About Our Comfort Goldens
Most of our Comfort Goldens are bred as 2nd generation, using a Comfort Golden to a Comfort Golden. We do have some that are bred as 1/2 Golden Retriever, and 1/2 American Cocker Spaniel. However, we do prefer the 1/2 Golden Retriever, 1/4th American Cocker, and 1/4th English Cocker, as most of our puppies are bred. This gives us the ideal look, coat, temperament, and easy trainability that we are thriving to achieve. We do still breed a few 1st generations Comfort Goldens using our 2 female Golden Retrievers with Phoenix, our Colonial Cocker male. (A Colonial Cocker is an American Cocker and English Cocker cross.)
AKC American Cocker Spaniel, "Reese's Duke of Dakota", AKA "Duke" is a Sable Male. (Retired due to age).
Duke is an unusual and beautiful Sable colored Cocker. He is a very curious little guy! His nose is right by everything that we do, whether it be digging holes for fence posts, or underneath a car, or anything else. He loves people, all people! He enjoys car rides, and looking out of the window, and is learning basics in obedience. Dukey's ultimate favorite pastime is going on ATV rides. When crossed with our Goldens, we get some more unusual colors out of Duke.

"Fiesta", Sable Female Comfort Golden. Fiesta is from the very first litter of Sable colored Comfort Retrievers! She was born & bred here, by Dakota Winds, out of Princess & Duke. We plan to breed her to Teddy someday. Very petite, playful girl. Born September 28th, 2007.
" Phoenix", Merle Male Colonial Cocker, (American & English Cocker Cross). Born March 4th, 2008. Even tempered, nice boy! Loves toys! Currently standing 13 inches tall. We plan to breed him to our Golden girls.
"Sienna", is an adorable Chocolate female Comfort Golden, out of Mindy and Al. Very sweet & friendly little girl! 15 inches tall.
"Peaches" is an AKC Golden Retriever Female.
Being extra tiny, Peaches is a new addition to our Comfort Golden breeding program! She is a very fun, sweet girl!

Comfort Golden -- A Bright, New Name!
"The originator of Comfort Retrievers (Golden Retrievers bred with Cocker Spaniels) changed her breeding program for Comfort Retrievers, after many kennels were far into raising them and had been using that term for years. The now-trademarked "Comfort Retrievers" have Golden Retriever and Poodle only in their backgrounds.
So, we have changed to this bright, new name that fits our wonderful dogs! Comfort Goldens !"
